What Are 3D and 4D Ultrasounds and What Is the Difference?
While standard 2D ultrasound, commonly used during routine check-ups, shows your baby in flat black-and-white images, modern technology allows for a much more detailed and realistic view.
3D ultrasound
- combines multiple 2D images into a single static, three-dimensional picture
- the result is a detailed “photograph” of your baby
4D ultrasound
- adds the fourth dimension: time
- allows you to watch a three-dimensional image in motion and in real time
- you receive a video recording where you can observe your baby’s movements and facial expressions

When is the best time for a 3D/4D ultrasound?
The ideal time is between the 24th and 28th week of pregnancy. At this stage, your baby is already well developed, has formed a layer of subcutaneous fat, and there is still enough amniotic fluid to capture the best possible images. -
How should you prepare for the examination?
No special preparation is required. We only recommend arriving with a slightly full bladder, which may help improve image quality in some cases. -
What will you take home from the examination?
You will receive a USB drive containing 3D photos and 4D video recordings as a lasting memory of this special moment.

Is It Covered by Insurance?
No
As this is not a medically indicated diagnostic examination, it is not covered by public health insurance and is considered a premium service.

How long does the scan take?
We reserve approximately 60 minutes for your appointment. The length of the recording itself depends on your baby’s position and the image quality.
What if the baby isn’t in a good position?
Sometimes the baby turns its back, hides its face with its hands, or is in an unfavorable position. Our experienced staff will first try to gently encourage the baby to move. If it is still not possible to obtain high-quality images, Gennet will be happy to offer you an alternative appointment date.
Will I get photos and video?
Yes, the package includes a USB drive with both images and video footage, which you can take home right after your scan.
Can I bring my partner or family?
Absolutely! We encourage you to share this special experience with your loved ones.
